Diana Thewlis

I hold degrees in Commercial Art and Illustration. I free-lanced and worked full-time for various companies as a graphic artist, designer, letterer, fashion illustrator, and technical illustrator before becoming a full-time free-lance illustrator in 1980. Although my clients have covered a broad range of genres, my emphasis was on illustrating for children, primarily in the educational arena. I began teaching at the Academy of Art University in 1992 as an adjunct professor. In 2013 I retired as a contract illustrator and Academy professor.

My time is now devoted to full time painting and drawing. I also teach classes and workshops when opportunities present. I paint all subject matter, although the majority of my works are figurative. My primary medium is watercolor and mixed media. Pen and ink, acrylics, collage, colored pencils, charcoal, and pastels complete my repertoire.

I have participated in several shows, won some awards, and have judged shows for The Academy of Art University and numerous art associations.

My work resides in the Air Force Art Collection and in various private collections around the world.
