A native of Oregon, Rita Bingham loves being outdoors, especially with her husband, 5 children, and 12 grandchildren. In 2007, she returned to the incredible beauty of the Pacific Northwest, after 40 years of living away. At the encouragement of a friend, she decided to start painting again, after a 30-year break, and took classes from watercolor artists who used brilliant out-of-the-tube colors. Rita says this connection to “happy” colors and the energy they provide literally saved her life and changed the way she views the world.
Rita finds that emotion plays a very important part in creating an inspiring painting, so she is now painting subjects that project a sense of peace and serenity. She loves painting people, flowers, roosters, dogs, landscapes, and high desert scenery.
Rita is a juried member of the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society (NAWS) and Southwest Washington Watercolor Society (SWWS). Her watercolor paintings have been in numerous shows in 4 states and have won awards in several categories. They are in collections across the United States.
Rita loves sharing her newfound “passion for color” with others, individually, through shows, in galleries, and social media.
