Artist’s Helping Artist’s

“Vancouver is home to a lot of amazing artists! The Vancouver Community Library has been privileged to exhibit over 300 different local artists during the past four years as part of the First Friday Downtown events. As we continue our involvement in the Vancouver Downtown Arts District we are hosting a project called ART4ART 2016”. We invite you to participate in this community art project.

Dear SWWS members,

We will be teaming up with the Library for our September 10 and October 8 Artist’s Helping Artist’s (AHA) programs. This is a great opportunity to share our art skills and help the Library in a fundraising effort that benefits art and artists in our community. They have sent an invitation (attached) with instructions so you can participate on your own or you can join us and work on this project at our AHA’s. (We really hope you will!)

SWWS will follow these guidelines: The completed art panels will make up the Vancouver Downtown First Friday Library art exhibit in December 2016. The Friends of Vancouver Community Library will sell each piece for a set price of $30, cash/credit and carry. Proceeds will go toward community art displays in the Library. Each artist will be given an 8” x 8” smooth finished panel to create a piece of original art in any artistic medium desired, which will be donated to the project. The materials may not extend beyond the 8” x 8” outer edges of the panel. Signing or printing your name on the back of the panel is optional.

SWWS will get all the panels from the library for each person that registers by contacting Nona at or call 360-666-3681. You are not limited to one panel.

We will meet at the Frost Arts Center at Clark College on Sept 10 at 1:00pm and distribute the panels. Bring your drawing on a piece of watercolor paper no smaller than 9x9inches. Bring your palette, brushes and water container. Let’s Paint!

We will paint together again on October 8th at 1:00pm, provide instructions for mounting our art on the boards and provide the products necessary to seal and complete your masterpiece.

We will collect all completed pieces of art at our AHA gatherings or our Annual meeting on Nov 5 where they will be on display before delivery to the Library. If you wish to deliver your art to the downtown library yourself, they are due by November 20th.

Help the Library, create art, have fun! Don’t forget to register.
