Artist’s Helping Artist Events

Artist’s Helping Artists (AHA) – Free of charge and open to members and non-members alike, Artists Helping Artists (AHA) is a monthly gathering of artists sponsored by SWWS. Each session features artists who are willing to share their knowledge, artwork and demonstrate techniques on topics of interest. Unless otherwise noted, the meetings are held on the second Saturday of most months, from 1-3pm at the Frost Arts Center on the Clark College Main Campus.

March 12 – Batik Demo by Lee Baughman

(We had previously scheduled a critique for this date but we needed to shift our show to May which allowed us to share this opportunity to learn about Batik) Additionally, there will be a brief opportunity to discuss the prospectus and make sure everyone understands the rules for participation in our show and for associates interested in the jury process.

April 9 – Critique Session with John Turley

Bring your paintings and get expert opinion on changes or adjustments prior to the Spring Show in May. Again, there will be an opportunity for prospectus review which will cover entry requirements for our Spring Show. Everyone needs to be clear on the rules before taking in their art for the Show.

May 14 – 12:00pm lunch SWWS members meeting

Announce and award the winners of the Spring show. Meeting site to be announced. The 1:00 AHA will follow this meeting.

May 14 – “Naming your art and Journaling” with Christ Krug

Explore creative ways to get “creative” and make your art get noticed through the use of terrific titles. Journaling can be your best friend. How do you get started? Find out at this informative AHA!

June 11 – Still Life: Set-up, Photo, Design and Create!

Join us for a repeat of last year’s popular event where we learned how to create a still life from start to finish, receiving expert help along the way. As before, we will meet a second time to show and work with our results through critique and fine tuning.
